Dr. Alex Barsi Lopes is a Clinical Professor of Information Systems and Grant Thornton Scholar at the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University, Bloomington. He teaches process modeling, systems analysis and design, data warehousing and visualization, Big Data, applications of artificial intelligence and technology consulting management. He has served as Director of the Technology Consulting Workshop since its creation in 2016. His research focuses on online information goods, collaboration technologies, face-to-face and online social networks, and IS educational initiatives, with his work appearing in journals such as Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, and Communications of the ACM. He conducts executive education programs on several technology-related topics and on the alignment of IT and business. Passionate about international education, Dr. Barsi Lopes has taken students to Thailand, China, India, Brazil, Guatemala, Mexico, and Canada. Prior to earning his Ph.D. degree from the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Barsi Lopes occupied both consulting and corporate positions. Before joining Kelley, he was the director of the MS-IS Program at the University of Cincinnati. At Kelley he has been responsible for GLOBASE and AGILE consulting projects in Guatemala, India, and Thailand.
