Dr. Snyder is a mechanical engineer and metallurgist with a PhD in Chemical and Materials Engineering. He started his railroad career at the University of Nebraska where he worked as a researcher in their railroad-engineering group. He worked at Union Pacific Railroad for over 20 years with a focus on derailment prevention, achieving an 80% reduction in derailment costs. Todd built and deployed many machines and systems, wrote many applications, and led software and hardware development efforts for various wayside, onboard, and computer vision systems. Dr. Snyder also led many regulatory changes through his involvement in the AAR. Todd is currently Director – Sensors & Analytics at Amsted Digital Solutions where his focus is asset health monitoring and life extension.
